According to reports in the Italian media, Chelsea are set to bid for €30 million rated Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi. Icardi who has scored 23 goals and created 6 assists in all competition.

Few days ago, news emerged that the Argentine has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan and will put pen to paper on a new contract which would make him the club’s highest paid player but newer reports now claim Chelsea are as a matter of fact ready to bid €30 million for him which the club hopes will be enough to get them the player from the Italians.

Icardi who is also a target for Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool has made it clear he will leave Inter Milan if they do not want him and the fact that he is yet to sign a new contract despite the rumours must have encouraged Chelsea to move for him.

His contract has three more years to run which mean should the player refuse to extend his deal, Inter can get good amount of money for him else where. On Chelsea’s point of view, having him with the blues will make a lot of sense. He is a very good striker. Someone who is not only able to act as a back up to Diego Costa but also good enough to oust the Brazilian/Spaniard from the first team and he is not overly expensive.

His versatile nature means he can play alongside Diego Costa should Mourinho want. However, Manchester United also interested Chelsea will not find it easy to sign the player but with Jose Mourinho and Inter still on good terms, that may good long way in the negotiations.
