Chelsea have been eyeing up the availability of various striking partners for Fernando Torres of late, and the latest name thrown into the hat is Seville striker Alvaro Negredo.
Chelsea are expected to confirm to sale of Daniel Sturridge in the next 10 days or so, and are expected to sign two forwards in his place.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with Radamel Falcao, and more recently linked with David Villa, Gonzalo Higuain and now Alvaro Negredo.
Negredo played his part in Spain’s Euro 2012 triumph earlier this year, and has a good goalscoring record in his 3 seasons at Seville.
Seville are said to be in some financial trouble and are expected to welcome the sale. Negredo is valued around the £15million mark and would be brought in to support Fernando Torres.
The Spanish international was previously playing for Real Madrid Castilla, Real’s second-team squad, before joining Almeria where he made his La Liga debut.
Since that move he has consistently scored goals, almost 1 in every 2 games, but in mid-table teams, and it is hoped given the kind of support from a top team, he could net better than his current record of almost 1 goal every other game.
I cannot say I would be happy to miss out on Falcao to see Negredo arrive, but I do believe he could add some class to the team. I rate the striker although he is not the world beater that Falcao is (regardless of his involvement in his national team’s triumphs).
