Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been put on red alert as Brazil name Pep Guardiola high on their shortlist to succeed the sacked Mano Menezes .
Chelsea are keen to bring Guardiola to Stamford Bridge next summer, with a £15million a year contract rumoured to be on the cards.
Brazil have claimed that they want their manager in place in January which might scupper their plans to sign Pep, who is on a one-year sabbatical from football, and claims he won’t be negotiating with any clubs until the new year.
Brazil are desperate to win the World Cup on their own turf and after Menezes failed to reach the semi-final of last years Copa America, the confederation of Brazil decided a new coach was needed.
Another option for Brazil could be Ex-Chelsea manager, Felipe Scolari, who lead Brazil to their last World Cup win in 2002, which was held in South Korea and Japan.
With Guardiola more than happy in New York currently, I can’t imagine the manager would cut that short to speak to Brazil but I sincerely hope he makes a return to management soon, as I’m sick of the site of Rafa Benitez already…
All this love for Pep, has anyone ever considered that he may actually fail on his next appointment. For me, I think that explains his so called sabattical. He knows he has set such a high standard for himself which he is not sure he can replicate, hence tha sabattical to hide away. Chelsea, no, Abrahamovic beware what you wish for.
