In a news that will surely disappoint Chelsea fans the world over, Marca are reporting Chelsea and Manchester United target Raphael Varane will not be leaving the Spanish capital club in the summer. Raphael Varane who has had little playing time this season was thought to consider his future in the summer and was linked to several clubs including Chelsea and Arsenal but if you believe Marca, the English trio can bury the thought of signing him this summer.
The player’s future with Real Madrid became a subject of intense speculation recently as a result of the Real Madrid offering Pepe a new two years contract would mean further bench time for the French youngster.
According to Marca, although Chelsea are keen on signing the player as a long term replacement for their captain and legend John Terry, the Frenchman has told Jose Mourinho and other interested parties that he will instead remain with Real Madrid and fight for a place in the first team.
Varane 21, has so far this season started 17 times for Real Madrid in the la liga. He has played a total of 38 games in all competition ( many of those as a sub ) scoring two times. he was rock solid for Real Madrid in the champions league quarter final barren draw with arc rivals Atletico Madrid last Tuesday. He is expected to start for the Galaticos in the return leg.
However, in my opinion, it will be too quick to assume the player will not move away from Real Madrid in the summer. In the world of football, players can change their decisions in a twinkle of an eye and with John Terry not getting younger and Mourinho a known lover of the player, it should not surprise anyone if Chelsea keenly try to sign the player in the summer.
