Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling after German based newspaper Bild reported that Bayern Munich have backed out of the race to sign the England International.
Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward and the club have agreed that a move to the Bundesliga champions would not be suitable for either party which in all puts Chelsea in the driving seat for the player’s signature although they will have to battle Real Madrid who are also keeping tabs on him.
Sterling’s commitment to Liverpool is in doubt after he gave a televised interview explaining why he has chosen to reject a 100,000- a week salary at Liverpool. As Sportsmail reported that Chelsea are interested in the 20-year-old and have been asked to be kept updated on his future.
The Blues cantered toward the Premier League title this season, but they need to make squad improvements to challenge for the Champions League. Sterling will tell Liverpool he wants to leave, as reported by Ben Smith of BBC Sport, a revelation that will make him one of the most sought-after youngsters in this summer’s transfer
window.
Liverpool are desperate to keep hold of the winger and, with Sterling’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season, the Reds’ board of management offered the player a new deal worth around £100,000 a week.
However, Sterling has rejected the new deal, which sparked immediate speculation that he will be on the move from Anfield once the summer transfer window opens again at the end of the season.
