Arsenal have reportedly contacted the agent of Juventus power house of a player, Arturo Vidal for a possible transfer to the Emirates towards next season. Wenger is keen to strengthen his squad towards next season in order to compete for the Premier League title after finishing 3rd this season, and he believes the 28 year-old Chile international can provide more agility to the side, and link up with his fellow country man, Alexis Sanchez.
Vidal is also been targeted by Chelsea, as his style of play fits the Blues. And Chelsea, with their influence in the transfer market can beat them to his signature. The huge midfielder has been one of the key players in the Old Lady campaign this season, helping them win the league and also guiding them to a Champions League final. In 44 appearances thus far across all competitions, he has scored 8 goals and made 4 assists. It is being speculated that Saturday’s game against Barcelona could be his last for the Italian giants, as his contract with the club expires soon.
Arsenal or Chelsea could get him for £28.6 million pounds, depending on which one of them is ready to pay the fees for a player who has grown to become one of the best in his position all over Europe. With Arsenal having missed out in the signature of Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, they could see Vidal as a better option, but it will be interesting to watch how they will beat Chelsea to his signature. Being a box-to-box midfield ace who is able to successfully play as defensive and attacking midfielder, he will no doubt come as a great addition to any of the EPL sides he finally opts for.
