Chelsea Hopeful Of Completing £43m Signing This Week

Chelsea remain hopeful of signing Antoine Griezmann within days despite Jose Mourinho’s denial. The Premier League champions are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season and have been linked to the French forward who only just moved to Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad. The blues are willing to meet his release clause which is £43 million.

Mourinho would certainly be anxious to get the deal done as quickly as possible for the French man, as he learnt the hard way towards the end of the season of the need for a partner for Costa. Presently, the only option available to Mourinho is Loic Remy, and as he proved towards the tail end of the season, he is not up to the calibre of player who can easy deliver the goals as easily as Costa could.

Antoine Griezmann coming to Chelsea would not only provide the blues with a partner for Costa, it would also allow Mourinho the flexibility of tweaking his starting line-up. This is because Griezmann can also operate across the frontline.

This will give an added depth to the Blues in their campaign next season. His stats for his first season at Atletico are impressive and goes to show why Chelsea are keen on signing him. Scoring 22 goals in all appearances and creating one goal, there is no doubt as to the quality of player he is. Hopefully Chelsea fans will get to see him flying their colours next season.
