Chelsea keen on breakthrough Spanish striker

Chelsea are keen to add to their strike-force this month, with Spanish Iago Aspas the latest name to be thrown into the ring.

Aspas is in his breakthrough season in La Liga, scoring 8 times this season for struggling Primera Liga side Celta Vigo, who are fighting to stay in the Spanish top flight.

The 25 year-old is enjoying his first season in La Liga, after his 23 Segunda division goals, helped his team earn promotion from Spain’s second-tier.

Swansea City are also keen on bringing the striker to England, but will not stand a chance should the Champions League holders firm up their interest.

Iago has a £8.3million release clause in his contract, with the club unwilling to negotiate the price for their star player.

Chelsea will be keen to tie up a deal for the forward before his reputation out-grows his price tag, with other big clubs said to be keeping a close eye.

Chelsea are aware that they can not count on the fitness of striker Demba Ba, or on the consistency of club burden Fernando Torres. This leaves us short of options up front.

I hope we can sign a forward before the month’s end, but believe a player with the ability to double as an attacking midfielder would be more beneficial to the team. A Willian or Fellaini type player would compliment our team, adding strength and versatility to our exceptional squad.

With our club opting to play in the 4-5-1 format, buying such a player would not limit the current squad members playing time, and adding strength to our fast and fluent squad is a must. Demba Ba was a good start, and Fellaini or Willian could be the icing on the cake. Agreed?
