Jose Mourinho of Chelsea is reportedly preparing a bid said to be worth £20 Million for Juve’s midfielder Arturo Vidal in the summer according to The Mirror.
The 27 year old midfielder, who has been instrumental to his team’s performances in the Serie A these past seasons, has also attracted the interest of several other top European clubs. The Mirror, however, reports that the Blues are expected to launch a bid for his services as soon as the window opens in July.
This season, the combative midfielder has scored 18 goals for his Serie A team in all competitions, and Jose Mourinho may have just made up his mind to put in a formal bid for his signature before other teams move in. It will be recalled that the player was earlier linked with a move to Manchester United, only for the midfielder to deny it.
His high work rate and ability to break up opposition play are some of the reasons the boss wants to sign him this summer. Mourinho likes to sign players who have a very high work rate, and play for the entire team, and that is precisely what he will be getting in Vidal.
He was famously quoted to have described himself as the best midfielder in the world when a question was put to him about his performances this season:
“Why am I playing so well? Well that’s simple. I’m the best in the world,” he claimed.
“Many try to imitate my style, but I want to say one thing — I’m the best in the world.”
Chelsea already have in their ranks one of the best signings of the January transfer window, Nemanja Matic; and the Blues could become even stronger with a player like Vidal in the midfield.
£20 Million is probably a small fee to pay for such a world-class midfielder, and I am struggling to believe that Juve would want to do business with Chelsea except the price is a bit higher. The player, who is set to feature at this year’s World Cup in Brazil, could costs almost double the amount being quoted in the press.
