As the EPL Champions face arch rivals Liverpool at the Stamford bridge on Sunday evening, it is expected that they will go for all 3 points. Not needed, but Chelsea just never wants to lose to Liverpool. A season plagued with injuries and losing of starting berths, here is what the lineup could look like.
FORMATION: 4-3-2-1
IN GOAL: Petr Cech might be making his 7th League appearance come Sunday and might just be preferred against Courtois. He will definitely put up a great performance in what seems to be the last Chelsea – Liverpool match of his great career.
DEFENCE LINE: Right back Ivanovic should start. Captain John Terry alongside Cahill should serve as central defence, or Mourinho could prefer Zouma to replace either of the two. Cesar Azpilicueta has been definitely solid in the left back position this season. He has nothing to prove, so as a form of consolation and farewell, Brazil’s Filipe Luis is likely to start on the left.
MIDFIELD: The masked one, Cesc Fabregas will play ahead of a back defensive duo of Matic and Mikel. The Nigerian has had limited playing time this season, and should be deployed to pair Matic.
ATTACK: A sole striker will be deployed as the norm is. French international, Loic Remy will be the main man, as Drogba could be rested, and Spaniard Costa is not likely to be risked, even on the bench.
Eden Hazard and Willian are likely to support the French man on both flanks, ahead of Columbia’s Juan Cuadrado who has not been able to impress since his move from Fiorentina that saw Sallah move the other way on a loan.
Youth team Dominic Solanke could likely get some action too, as a reward for his superb performances in the youth competitions, but he is likely to start on bench.
PREDICTED SCORE LINE: 2 goals to 0 in favour of Chelsea.
PREDICTED CHELSEA MAN OF THE MATCH: Eden Hazardd
