Chelsea Linked To £22m Rated £60,000-A-Week Attacker

Chelsea has been linked to many different players this season, and now they are being linked to Barcelona winger, Pedro. Pedro, who is unsettled at Camp Nou for a lack of matches, is looking for a move away from Barcelona. With links to Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, Pedro will certainly be able to find a new club this summer. A £22million transfer to Chelsea seems unlikely, but we all know how unpredictable Mourinho can be.

Chelsea already have a surplus number of wingers in the squad already, and with recent signing Juan Cuadrado being bought from the Viola this January, do not expect Chelsea to purchase another winger. Cuadrado was bought and André Schürrle was sold to VFL Wolfsburg, so Mourinho has a lot of trust in his new Columbian winger. Cuadrado hasn’t impressed yet, but Mourinho said he is using this year to adjust to the Premier League, and he will be ready next year. But with Willian, Eden Hazard, Victor Moses, Lucas Piazon, and Christian Atsu also in the system, Mourinho has plenty of wingers to choose from.

Do not expect Mourinho to sign another average winger, with plenty of other average wingers already on the team. Pedro would be another Willian, with good pace, high work rate, but decent movement and finishing. If Chelsea really wanted a new winger, they would have to go after someone like Gareth Bale, or Marco Reus. Both would be super expensive, but would be worth the money. Gareth Bale would probably be the first choice, due to Reus’ injury problems and the fact Bale grew up watching the Premier League.

Pedro wouldn’t help Chelsea, and £22million would be too expensive for a bench player. Pedro could actually halt the growth of youth players. If Mourinho would want to bring Pedro in, then we would expect to see Willian on his way out, which is unlikely to happen. Mourinho loves the way Willian tracks back to help out his right back, and I highly doubt he is willing to risk that for a player that is equally as skilled as him. If Chelsea is going to spend £22million this summer, they have larger needs than another mediocre winger.
