Chelsea loanee Kakuta slams the club

After all the trouble that Chelsea had getting Gael Kakuta to Stamford Bridge, it is hard to believe that the 21-year old could leave Stamford Bridge with just six appearances in the Premier League to his name. That seems a distinct possibility, though, after Kakuta produced an astonishing outburst that blasted Chelsea and the policy that has seen him spend almost his whole time out on loan at Fulham, Bolton, Dijon and now Vitesse Arnhem.

“I don’t dream about Chelsea anymore. I used to, but now I know better,” Kakuta revealed.

“I hope I can join a club like Vitesse next season, where I can play every week.

“Chelsea have far too many players. At my age I need to play regularly, but if I go back I’ll just get 10 minutes a month and I don’t want that.”

Kakuta was a hugely talented and promising young winger when he joined Chelsea as a youth in 2007. His former club, the French side Lens, appealed to FIFA about breach of contract and both Chelsea and the player received extremely harsh sentences, ours including a transfer embargo and Kakuta’s a ban and huge fine. The club finally got these overturned on appeal as Lens did not have a proper contract with him.

He was lauded as a prodigy once he got to Chelsea and seemed destined for greatness, but his chances have been severely limited but he has impressed when given a chance. The whole point of the loan system is to get players like Kakuta up to speed before launching them in at the top level where mistakes and inexperience are punished .

Somebody from the club needs to have a chat with the lad, because the last thing we need this season is more negative publicity.
