It is no secret that Chelsea have been linked with Alexandre Pato in the past, and the Brazilian may finally be available in the next transfer window.
Pato has sparked speculation about his future, when saying the following after their 3-1 win over Malaga: “Milan are doing well and Stephan El Shaarawy is doing well, but I want to play,” Pato told Mediaset Premium. “We will see what to do with my agent.”
This suggested that the player was seeking a move away from the club.
Gilmar Veloz, Pato’s agent, answered some questions after liasing with his client.
Firstly he was asked if his player was thinking about a possible loan back to Brazil.
“Pato is doing well in Europe, he doesn’t need to return to Brazil,” Veloz responded. “He has 18 months left on his contract; it’s unthinkable that an expensive player like him would be loaned out.”
Regarding any other potential transfer deals, he added: “I can’t talk about something that doesn’t exist. Nothing about that came to me.
“When there is something concrete, we can talk. But right now, he is happy at Milan.”
His agent sounds like he expects some interest to come about in the near future, and Chelsea urgently need some fire-power. Pato could fit in well at Chelsea, adding to the skill and pace that the team currently possesses, but I think the team needs more of a Drogba type, a big strong all-rounder who can dominate in the air when needed.
