Chelsea might be disappointed that over the years, young players they have brought to the club have not been able to live up to expectations placed on them, but the the Stamford Bridge club has proved to be a good breeding ground for young players who go on to excel after leaving the club.
Chelsea have always been known to have promising young talents who hardly make the grades at the club and hence are shipped out and subsequently become fine players at their various clubs. One of such players is Kevin De Bruyne of Wolfsburg, the Belgium international was deemed not good enough to play for Chelsea and after being banished to train with the Chelsea under 21 side by Jose Mourinho, he was sold to Wolfsburg. Fast forward few months later, under a manager that gives him enough playing time, De Bruyne is now one of the most wanted players in the summer transfer window, with the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain all keen on signing him.
The latest in the list of players who have left the club and are doing well for themselves in their new club is Franco Di Santo. Remember him? Di Santo was brought into the club in 2008 from Chilean club Audax Italiano following his impressive form for his then club. But at Chelsea, he failed to live up to expectations, not even managing a single goal for the Blues. He was subsequently loaned out to a number of clubs including Blackburn Rovers and Wigan, he was finally sold to Weder Bremen in Germany last summer where he has since seemed to be settled.
The latest on Di Santo is that German giants, Borussia Dortmund are interested in landing his services and are set to make a bid of £15 million to lure him from Bremen. Jogen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund is said to be an admirer of the Argentine International and thinks he would be a good addition to his side.
