According to reports in the Italian media today, Chelsea should be bracing themselves for a raid from runner away serie A leaders Juventus. If you believe Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus will not only be making a bid for Oscar but as well as for Ramires. According to the paper, Juventus are secretly preparing for life without their key player Paul Pogba and would like to sign the Brazilian.
Rated at £25 million, Ramires has been linked with Real Madrid and having fallen out of the first team and as such many Chelsea fans expect the club to sell the Brazilian in the summer and bring in a better replacement. Someone who is able to contribute to the team more than the Brazilian currently does.
Juventus who are expected to adequately reinforce their team in the summer reportedly also have their eyes on Benfica’s Axel Witsel as a potential Paul Pogba replacement but their first option remains Chelsea’s Ramires.
Although at this time of the year is when there are rumours here and there flying around and one cannot tell which of the rumours are true or not but considering Ramires hasn’t seen much action for Chelsea this season, it will not surprise anyone if Jose Mourinho sanctions the sale of the Brazilian should any reasonable bid be made for his services.
Chelsea’s transfer business in recent time seems to be to offload any player that isn’t being regularly used and use the funds generated to bring in better replacement. Just last summer David Luis and Demba Ba were sold and before them, Juan Mata was sold to Manchester United. It is expected that the club will ply this route again in the summer as it seems Roman Abramovich has decided to fully adhere to financial fair play laws. For this reason, I see Mikel and Ramires being sold in the summer.
