Chelsea News – £6 Million Bid Set To Be Made For High Rated CB

The Merseysiders have conceded 39 goals in 36 games this season. More than all the other 4 teams above them on the table, and more than 6th place Southampton. Brendan Rodgers is aware of the crack in his defence this season, and is in search of  quality defenders as the summer transfer window opens in a matter of weeks.

Key on his list is Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen. The 19 year-old Dane who is yet to make his Premier League debut since 2012 when he joined the pensioners. And ever since becoming a member of the senior team last season, he has only appeared twice across all competitions – one in the F.A and one in the League Cup. Rodgers wants to make use of Chelsea’s lack of negotiations to lure him to Anfield for a fresh chance to compete for first-team playing time.

Christensen has refused to sign a contract extension with the Blues, and his deal expires next summer. Mourinho is also in pursuit of other defenders who play as centre backs, and Christensen’s chances of ever breaking into the first-choice squad will reduce. Hence, a move to the club’s rivals will seem like a never-to-be-missed opportunity to the highest paid player in youth F.A history.

Liverpool’s duo, Glen Johnson and Kolo Toure are set to depart at the end of the season on a free transfer, and Christensen’s chances of breaking into the first team at Anfield get high with that. Liverpool are reportedly planning 6 million pounds for his services. And Chelsea might be willing to sell at such offer, but not without a buy-black clause. He is a lot of potentials and might just end up becoming a key player in  Liverpool once exposed to regular playing time.

Christensen also plays as right-back. Manchester City are also monitoring the situation of the Dane who once caught the attention of Manchester United and Barcelona. His only chances of getting a Blue shirt is if he beats Terry, Gary Cahill, or Branislav Ivanovic. A departure is more than certain.
