Petr Cech

Chelsea club legend, Petr Čech has been heavily linked to a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer. After the return of Thibaut Courtois from his three year loan spell at Atletico Madrid, Petr Čech has fallen to the number two goalkeeper. With limited playing time, he has grown unsettled at Chelsea, appearing in only six Premier League games this season. Čech is 32 years old, and still has a good couple of years left in his tank, and would be a vital asset to whatever club he decides to join. Due to his legendary status at Chelsea, and his great relationship with owner Roman Abramovich, it makes sense that he will be allowed to choose which club he wants this summer. Čech is probably still a top five goalkeeper in the world, its just unlucky that Thibaut Courtois is nine years younger than the Czech international.

If Mourinho can somehow convince Čech to stay at Chelsea, that would be brilliant news. Čech probably has a key role in Courtois’ success this season, by pushing him in training. If Courtois knows that there is a goalkeeper just as good as him on the bench, he will try his best in training to further his skills. Čech is still a quality goalkeeper, and if anything was to happen to Courtois, he would be the best reserve in the history of football.

Čech’s agent has recently commented on a possible move to Beşiktaş, stating that…

“We have been in contact with Beşiktaş, we are in talks. Turkey is a choice for Čech but we will decide when the league is over.”

Čech has also been seriously linked to a move to Arsenal, but Mourinho is unlikely to sell to a Premier League rival. Čech is also rumored to favor a move to Italy, specifically to AS Roma, where he could rejoin with fellow Chelsea legend Ashely Cole.

Chelsea’s first choice will be to convince their long time goalkeeper to stay at Stamford Bridge, but if he is adamant on leaving, then the next choice will be to sell him to a foreign league, because they do not want to face him in England.
