Chelsea news round up 7/7/2012

No confirmed new transfers but there are a few bits of gossip and news out there. Firstly I want to wish all the best to Daniel Sturridge and his family. I hope that Roberto Di Matteo is right and that our young striker gets to appear at the Olympics. The most important thing is that he is okay.

Andriy Shevchenko might be coming back to Stamford Bridge, but don’t panic because we won’t be playing him this time. He is rumoured to be set to join the back room staff at Chelsea. He was thought to be off to America for a couple of lucrative seasons in the MLS but his friend Roman Abramovich has made him a better offer.

Salomon Kalou will not be able to exact his revenge on Chelsea by scoring against them as so often happens when a club lets a player go. He is going to join French Ligue 1 side Lille apparently. Good luck to you Salomon.

David Luiz has not been included in the Brazilian Olympic squad which is probably a good thing for Chelsea. The young players involved will get a lot of benefit from the experience but for the older players it is just a chance to get injured.

Any lingering hope that Chelsea fans may have had of finally signing Luka Modric from Tottenham seems to be disappearing fast as Real Madrid are thought to have almost completed the deal. At least he won’t be playing for the Spuds.
