Chelsea now strong favourite´s for Falcao

Chelsea look strong favourite´s to sign Radamel Falcao as Manchester City, who were thought to be Chelsea´s biggest opposition for his signature, are said to have turned down an option to bid.

It is reported that the Athletico Madrid general manager Migel Angel Gil Marin and Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes went to the Etihad after last weeks Manchester City versus Tottenham Hotspurs game, although uninvited, to see if the Manchester club were going to follow up their interest in their Columbian sensation with a bid.

This news comes to me after another dismall display by the current Chelsea front-man, Fernando Torres, who hasn´t scored in the Premier League since the 6th of October, in a 4-1 win over Norwich City.

The Chelsea striker has scored only 4 goals in the Premier League this season, in which he has started every match to date.

Falcao on the other hand has scored 10 League goals for Athletico Madrid in his 11 games, also scoring an emphatic hat-trick against Chelsea FC in the European Super Cup.

With Falcao having spoken about the Premier League, and about Chelsea FC in recent weeks, speculation has been rife, and I can certainly see Chelsea taking their interest further, with a bid in January imminent.
