Chelsea persist in striker hunt with talks in Madrid

Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich has sent his assistant to Madrid for talks over signing a striker, namely Radamel Falcao or Gonzalo Higuaín, in the January transfer window.

Fernando Torres scored a brace in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Sunderland, ending a goalless run which stretches back over two months, but his goals came after Marina Granovskaia, Roman Abramovich’s personal assistant, travelled to the Madrid to discuss the availibility of either Falcao or Higuaín.

Chelsea have also joined Arsenal in the hunt for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba, who has a £7million release clause.

Granovskaia has become personally involved in a number of deals that Chelsea have negotiated in the last couple of years, and generally only gets involved in advanced talks.

Falcao has a buy-out clause in his contract of £48m, whereas Higuaín has become out of favour at Real, and would probably be available for around £22m.

Either player would be a welcome addition at Chelsea. Falcao is debatably the best striker in the world at the moment and who wouldn’t welcome that! Fernando Torres may have scored 4 goals this week, but he is a long way from cementing his place as Chelsea’s number 9! Would you be happy with Higuain up front?

No Higuain is a waster. Go back to past 5 classicos he played and see the most prolific waster in world football in actions. Chelsea will regret it n will loathe Drogba’s exit
