Two days ago we wrote an article advocating that Chelsea should make a move in the summer of Olympic Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette as partner/back up for injury prone Diego Costa and Loic Remy. We based our thought on the fact that the young french striker is prolific and likely to be available for cheap. Forward to today, Daily independent newspaper are reporting Chelsea are planning to make a move for the Frenchman once the summer transfer window is opened.
According to the paper, Jose Mourinho has sent Chelsea scouts to watch the striker play a couple of times and hie is satisfied with the reports of the scouts so far. What’s interesting is that Independent are reporting Chelsea could sign the player for as little as £15 million instead of the initially reported £25-35 million.
With Remy still having his usual injury problems and Diego Costa’s hamstring problem is still a big threat to his career, Chelsea could do with someone like Alexandre Lacazette. He is not only able to play with Diego Costa or Remy in attack, he is able to play alone upfront as the lone striker when the need arises.
At as of the time of writing this article, Lacazette has scored a total of 29 goals and created six assists in 34 games for Lyon so far this season in all competition. Impressive stat for a player who is just having his second full second for Lyon.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked to the player but if you believe The SUN Chelsea hope to beat the trio to the signature of the Frenchman
