Chelsea Plan Move For £20m Rated "Revelation Of The Season"

Abdul Rahman Baba

To add to the tally of African players at Stamford bridge, Abdul Rahman Baba, the Ghanaian under-20 team’s captain is being bade for. Rahman Baba currently plies his trade at the German Bundesliga with FC Augsburg. Chelsea will be facing competition from Manchester City for the 20 years old’s signature.

The versatile Rahman Baba who can play as a left-back is likely to replace Luiz Filipe, who has failed to perform up to par following his highly-anticipated transfer from La Liga outfits, Atletico Madrid. Baba has a deal with FC Augsburg until 2019, but Chelsea are ready to pay 11 million pounds to buy him out. He has been in fine form for the Bundesliga outfit, displaying his attacking prowess by providing 4 assists in 28 league games. He is known to always run down the left and provide excellent crosses into the opposition’s box, a style of play that also suits the Blues.

The defender only has one player ahead of him in the amount of tackles won this season in Germany. He was part of the Avram Grant’s (a onetime Chelsea handler ) team that won silver at this year’s African cup of nations in Equatorial Guinea. Rahman is a combination of attack and defense, and Spain international, Cesar Azpilicueta  will have his shirt threatened if the Black Stars player finds himself in Chelsea by summer.

His contributions to sixth-position placed Augsburg in just his second year spell at the club have been immense, and he is obviously their best signing in two seasons. According to the latest Bundesliga player index, the starlet is currently the 7th ranked player with an average of 2.9 interceptions, 3.5 clearances, 1.4 dribbles, 0.5 shot blocks and 4.8 tackles – the highest tackle rate by any player in the Bundesliga.
