As Chelsea wraps up the season with a visit from Sunderland by weekend, the coach, according to his plan will be fielding his starting eleven after they have done him proud by winning him the league title in his second season of a second stint at the Stamford bridge. But there will be slight changes, maybe 2 or 3 additions, to the current crop of champions in preparation for next season’s campaigns, as Jose Mourinho believes a little shakeup to the team can yield great results, most especially a treble.

It is in that regard, that the Special One had drawn up a fine transfer list, and Atletico

Madrid’s forward, Antoine Griezmann tops the list. He has enjoyed a wonderful debut season at the Vicente Calderon, and his performances has made him Chelsea’s number 1 choice in the transfer market this season. But following series of negotiations and even after involving popular agent, Jorge Mendes in the deal, getting Griezmann gets harder day by day, and the pensioners don’t wanna put all their eggs in one basket. They now see Barcelona’s out-of-favour forward, Pedro Rodríguez as a backup plan if for whatsoever reason, the Griezmann transfer fails. Though, both are definitely of contrasting qualities this season, but it can’t be denied that Pedro can deliver if given enough time and space, both which have eluded him this season at the Camp Nou.

Pedro has only started 14 La Liga games this season, all of which were as a result of Suarez’s absence. In all his 34 league games, he has found the back of the net just 6 times, as opposed to Griezmann’s 22 in the same number of appearances. Pedro has fallen in the pecking orders at Camp Nou, and he is ready to leave for England by summer. Chelsea are preparing a 10 million pounds bid for the Spain international, and if Griezmann will be staying back at Atletico for the summer, Pedro will definitely make it to the Stamford bridge.
