Chelsea risk losing Ashley Cole for nothing in transfer window

Roman Abramovich and Roberto Di Matteo have until January to either convince Ashley Cole to accept the one year contract extension on offer, or give him the longer contract he desires. If neither of these things happen then the England international left back will be free to sign the football equivalent of a pre-nuptial agreement with another club.

I can guarantee you that there will be no shortage of suitors for Cole, with two of his former managers at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti, already sniffing around according to Metro. The 31-year old is widely regarded as one of the best left backs in the world. His performances are consistently a class apart and there are few, if any, teams that he would not improve.

Cole is two games away from his 100th England cap and, when he is fit, is probably the first name on the team sheet. Ryan Bertrand looks a great prospect at Stamford Bridge but he is still learning his trade. The Chelsea policy about players over 30 not getting more than a year at a time seems absolutely ridiculous in this case. Cole is a model professional who can play at the very top level for years to come.

Chelsea management should change their policy of players age reaching 31 years with one years contract, Chelsea are now searching everywhere for Drogba replacement, Drogba should have stayed but your miserable policy let him go, now is A.cole turn now, how old is lampard? I think chelsea will pay the price if you let ashley cole go.
