Chelsea Rumours Aug 25th – Pereira, Malouda, Alex & Modric

It has been a good week for Chelsea with the signing of Juan Mata from Valencia, but the transfer window still has a few days left to run and there are still plans to sign, and sell players in the remaining few days.

According to reports Chelsea have already had a bid of £16.6million for Alvaro Pereira turned down, but they are expected to increase their bid in the next few days. Porto have already signed Alex Sandro to replace Pereira so it appears as though the Uruguayan international could be at Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.

If Pereira does arrive Andre Villas-Boas will need to offload players and the latest player rumoured to be on his way his Florent Malouda. The Frenchman is looking to extend his current contract, but the club have not offered him a new deal as yet. There have been reports suggesting he could be on his way to Juventus for as little as £5million, but I doubt he would be allowed to leave for such a small fee.

Giuseppe Marotta is the General Director at Juventus and last night he was quoted as saying that Malouda was “definitely an interesting player.”

Central defender Alex has also been targeted by Juventus, but all seems to have gone quiet about that transfer. David Luiz could be back in action very soon and he is expected to replace Alex and partner skipper John Terry in defence. Again we will have to wait and see what happens.

Finally news about Luka Modric. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has spoken and said that Modric could play in tonight’s Europa League game against Hearts. If he does he will be cup-tied and be unable to play in Europe for another team this season which could scupper Chelsea’s plans to sign him.

Redknapp also had the following to say about whether Modric was about to leave Spurs and move across London to Stamford Bridge. He said, “The chairman made another statement on Tuesday night that Luka is definitely not going. He spoke to Chelsea and said: ‘Let’s put an end to this because it is not going to happen.’ We want him here and the chairman will sit down with him in the next couple of weeks and look at his contract. If there’s something we can do we will do it. He’s not for sale.”

Just a week to go then in the current transfer window and things are beginning to hot up. It looks as though it could be a busy few days at Chelsea.

If Pereira comes through does that mean the end for Bosingwa or Ferreira?

I would also prefer for Kalou to leave rather than Malouda.

  2. POM says

Pereira plays in left wing or as a LB . With Cole, PVA , Bertrand why are we after him ? Better get Moutinho .

Chelsea should quickly sign modric and pereira and sell kalou because he is worthless

Couldn’t agree with POM more. We have argubly the best LB in the world in Cole and some great prospects in Van Aanholt and Bertrand (remember his assist on his debut). RB is where we need someone Ferrara is what 32/33 and Bosingwa is like 29? Are there no good young RB out there?
