Chelsea Rumours – Gary Cahill Is The Latest Target

It has been reported today on the website Metro that Chelsea could be preparing a bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill once the transfer window re-opens in January.

Cahill was on the verge of signing for Tottenham last week, but the two clubs could not agree a fee. Arsenal and Liverpool were also targeting Cahill over the summer, but both refused to pay the £17million asking price and have since bought defenders from elsewhere.

According to the report Andre Villas-Boas wants Cahill to partner John Terry in defence and will ask Roman Abramovich to fund the deal. Cahill is out of contract at the end of the season so there could be room for negotiation in the price and the report goes on to say he may be available for as little as £8million.

Tottenham are sure to be in for Cahill again, but given the choice between Chelsea or Spurs it is surely a no brainer for the England International.
