It has been reported this morning that Chelsea have decided to get some expert Premiership experience to reinforce their midfield in January, and their reported target is the excellent Cheick Tiote from Top Four rivals Newcastle United.
Chelsea reportedly made enquiries during the summer but Alan Pardew rejected any advances. This time the Newcastle manager responded to the rumours by saying that Tiote could be for sale, but he will be very very expensive…
Pardew said: “It is going to cost a hell of a lot of money, a hell of a lot of money because we’re in that position now.
“I think any of our players that get linked to other clubs, those clubs are going to need to know they’ll need to pay a shed load of money to get anyone out of this football club.”
He added: “I don’t envisage anyone going out in this window.
“But if a club, one of the top clubs, comes in and wants to pay way, way over the odds we’ll have to look at it.”
That will mean a minimum of £20m to persuade Newcastle to let him go, but would he be a good addition to the Chelsea midfield?
Can anyone explain why anyone in their right senses will think we are interested in Tiote. To do what if I may ask? Our mid-field is oversaturated with players of his type already. May I put this out for consideration. Can we look at Dyer in Swansea for our right wing. Saw him against Manure and any player that could make Evra look like he did deserves a look-in. Evra even had to be substituted to save him from further embarrasment and possible red-card as he was already on a yellow courtesy of frustrated tackle on Dyer. So, what do you guys think?
