Latest of the targets planned for inclusion into the long lists of wanted players at the Stamford Bridge is young Brazilian wonderkid, Gerson. The 17 years old midfield sensation has also been reportedly targeted by Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester United. But Chelsea has been in direct talks with his club, Fluminense, and a price of £22 million pounds has been put up for the signature of the prodigy.
The Brazilian team under-20 player has been watched by scouts from Europe, and he is being regarded as a player to reckon with. For such a price and promised quality, he comes handy for a club by Chelsea who has been under watch over the money they spend on the transfer of players, due to the financial fair play policy.
Gerson’s addition to the squad is being considered, and he is likely to accept a move to London, a club that has a good history of Brazilian starlets doing good at it. With a handful of them present already, the young midfielder will feel at home, and feel more welcome at Chelsea compared to at other suitors’ clubs. He has already made twelve appearances at the Maracana, with four goals to his name at such tender age.
His strings of impressive performances at the Rio de Janeiro stadium has brought him to the fore, and he is being tipped in his homeland as a Pele in the making. Fellow country teammate of his, Nathan is already in London, reportedly to be closing down a deal with Chelsea, and Gerson is likely to follow suit and be on his way to the Stamford Bridge when the transfer window opens. Fluminense wants to at least keep him in the club until the end of the coming Olympics, but if £22 million is brought to the table, then they will have to do without the whizkid’s services by summer.
