Chelsea Set To Complete Signing Of £12m Star

Enner ValenciaChelsea are said to be interested in the services of West Ham striker, Enner Valencia. The Ecuador international just finished his debut season in the EPL, and could only manage 4 goals in his 32 league matches, largely due to the coach opting to play him in a wide role. The former Pachuca forward was brought in to the Upton Park at the beginning of the season, costing £12 million pounds, and agreeing to a 5 year-deal. His displays at last year’s world cup for the Ecuadorian side made him a target of many clubs after the competition.

Mourinho had plans to get him playing at the Stamford Bridge during the January winter transfer, but the deal did fall through, and only Juan Cuadrado made an entry back then. The Special One is however interested in making a fresh bid once again, as he believes the Ecuadorian has what it takes to be the next Drogba and provide Costa some competition. The 25 year-old was helpful to West Ham’s dreams of a top 4 finish early in the season, before they slipped during the 2nd half of the season. And they could only finish in 12th place.

Valencia (not the club) isn’t likely to be released by the club, as they are planning big for next season, and are making plans of bringing Europa league winning coach, Unai Emery in to East London. But Chelsea isn’t a club most players easily resist, and with reports saying Mourinho could spend big on the player, a move could also be in offing. Enner Valencia, nicknamed Superman back when he was in Mexico, will also be exposed to Champions League action if he accepts a Chelsea move, and that might be a juicy offer to turn down.
