Chelsea Set To Confirm Two Transfers Within Two Weeks

Jose Mourinho

With Czech international, Petr Cech certain to leave the Stamford bridge after more than a decade spell with the Champions of England, serious provisions are being made for a replacement. And Mourinho is looking at Stoke City’s shot stopper, Asmir Begovic as his first choice replacement. The Bosnia international, who is also wanted by Arsenal, has a year left on his contracts at the Britannia Stadium. But he is poised to leave as he has lost his starting berth to coach’s favourite, Jack Butland.

Begovic is said to be priced at 10 million pounds, and with Cup competitions and a pay rise guaranteed him in Chelsea, a move might work out. The former Portsmouth, who has made over 170 appearances for Stoke since signing with them 5 seasons ago has been great in pole this season. With 100% claim rate, 7 cleans sheets and 59 saves in 34 League appearances, it can’t be denied that the Inter-target will serve as a good back up for Thibaut Courtois.

Begovic is also known for his long balls, which have earned him a goal, and a created-chance in the last two seasons. This skill of his definitely comes handy once in a while when counterattacks are made, reminiscent of the departing-Cech no doubt.
