Chelsea Set To Rival Arsenal for Signature of Antoine Griezmann

Reports have emerged that Chelsea plan to rival Arsenal for the signature of Real Sociedad attacker, Antoine Griezmann, whom they hope to splash Mata’s money on.

In a week where the transfer of Juan Mata dominated the headlines in Spain and England, there has been rumours of different players being linked with the club as possible replacement for the player whose departure to Man United is imminent.

One of the players being linked to Chelsea as they plan to spend the money they got from Man United is Arsenal target, Antoine Griezmann of Real Sociedad of Spain. The 23 year old attacking player is having a season of his life; and is being linked with a lot of clubs including PSG.

The Chelsea boss is expected to turn his attention to the French international who is one of the hottest properties in the whole of Europe. According to the Sun Newspaper, Chelsea view Griezmann as a possible replacement for Mata, and are set to outbid the Gunners who were reported to have tabled a bid of €14 Million in January.

The player, who wants to move to a bigger club in order to advance his career, is said to worth £24 Million. Mata’s deal is expected to be announced later today, and the manager who has already concluded a deal to bring in Mohammed Salah as a possible replacement may see Griezmann as one player that has a lot to offer his team.

Wenger has never made his love for Griezmann a secret as he once spoke glowingly about his abilities. The fact that Wenger, who doesn’t like talking about his transfer targets in the press is doing so in the case of the Real Sociedad player means Arsenal’s interest could be genuine; and Chelsea might as well out in a better bid if they hope to snap the Frenchman before the summer.

Chelsea is likely to beef up their attack at the end of the season, and a player like Griezmann is one player to look out for. He is fast, strong and full of trickery; which makes this news an exciting one.
