Spanish papers have been linking Chelsea to various players in the Spanish league. Earlier, it was Real Madrid’s Jese that is said to be on his way to Chelsea. Now, AS Sport are reporting Chelsea are interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann who has also been linked to various other clubs in England and Europe.
Bayer Munich, Arsenal, Manchester United, PSG and Liverpool have been linked to the player in recent time but Diego Simeone has rebuffed all attempts to sign the high rated Frenchman. Antoine Griezmann who was signed by Atletic from Real Sociedad last summer in a deal said to be around £24 million has been one of the Madrid club’s best players so far.
As of the time of writing this report, the world cup quarter finalist has scored a total of 22 goals in 32 matches for Atletic. To further put his wonderful record so far this season into perspective, he is the third highest goal scorer in the Spanish top flight and Atletico Madrid’s highest goal scorer. Being third highest goal scorer in a league that has Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema, Neymar, Bale and co is never a small feat.
Should he join Chelsea, he will not be the first Atletico Madrid player to sign for the Blues. He will be joining Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and former loan star Thibaut Courtois as players who have played for both Chelsea and the Spanish la liga side.
