According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea are about to sign another Nigeria player. This time one of Nigeria’s rave of the moment Zaharaddeen Bello is reportedly on his way to the Stamford Bridge. The 17 year old Nigerian was part of the under 17 team that won the FIFA under 17 World cup in 2013 in UAE.
Bello is a central defender who is versatile enough to play as a defender midfielder ala Chelsea’s other Nigerian John Obi Mikel. Although the boy is just 17 years, he is already highly rated and well sought after by many European clubs including Manchester City, Liverpool and Juventus.
Should the Nigerian join Chelsea, he will be joining his fellow country men – John Obi Mikel, Dominic Solanke, Kenneth Omeruo, Ola Aina who is the England under 19 captain and Fikayo Tomori who is eligible to play for Nigeria, Canada and England.
Personally, I think it is a good move Chelsea going for young cheap but very talented players such as Bello. With FFP now ensuring clubs can no longer spend in the transfer market however they want, clubs that have the best scouts will be the ones who will do well.
Although he may not be a first team player, he could well be Chelsea’s next John Terry.
