Chelsea Step Up Interest In Brazilian Ace

In January Chelsea failed in their attempts to bring Brazilian striker Neymar to Stamford Bridge, but they may be about to step up their interest in the teenager as coach Roberto di Matteo was sent to watch him play against Germany.

Neymar, 19, has a buy out clause in his contract with Santos which is rumoured to be in the region of £40million, scored a late consolation goal for Brazil in their 3-2 defeat to Germany on Wednesday evening.

He has attracted interest from numerous clubs all over Europe, and Chelsea will have competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala.

Pele who also played his football at Santos has urged Neymar to stay well clear of the Premier League though. In a recent interview he said, “ I think it’s a little complicated for him to move to a club in England or Italy at the moment. The marking is very tight there. He would find that a little difficult because he’s very young. The game is very physical in England and Italy. Maybe in Holland or France or even Spain it would be better for him.”

So it remains to be seen if Chelsea are going to make another bid for Neymar, but if di Matteo was impressed by his goal and performance on Wednesday evening they may well do so and Neymar could just end up in the English Premier League.

Haven’t we had enough of all this Neymar? Or is he the best available in the market? There are many talented and cheaper youngsters out there, think of Mario Gotze( the star of the Dortmond team last season), Willian and Douglas Costa (both Shaktar Donetsk), Sebastian Giovinco of Juventus. These guys are cheap and eager to succeed at the highest level, hope the Chelsea management knows them.

Buying teenagers with limited experience is the way to go for the future, but right now Chelsea needs some ready-made youngsters who are proven at top clubs. Lukaku is a good example; he can play right away, but we need a few more, especially in the winger, right back, and central defence positions. Someone must be phased in to fill John Terry’s shoes this year; and I would volunteer Neven Subotic for that. I am not totally sure that Van De Wiel would be the best option to replace Ferreira or Bosingwa, but I am sure that a replacement is needed. But a top winger is perhaps the most interesting consideration; I think most Chelsea fans are eager to see a player that can make a difference when the opposition parks the metaphoric bus across goal. Here we need a player with the vision and tricks to send defenders the wrong way, and the skill to lay on a perfect pass or attack alone. And here only one name springs to mind and that is Neymar. For all the concerns I and others have about him I still think he would prove to be an extraordinary weapon (He is a striker, winger, and central midfielder). Perhaps Di Matteo was watching him in Germany this week for similar reasons. If I had the money I would go for it.

ok this neymar business is going to far.. several clubs met his release clause but santos didnt sell the kid.. so why bother? Chelsea could get Hazard, and Arda Turan for the same price.. Hopefully De Matteo was scouting German players Sweinstagger, Gotze, and Muller.. also as a creative midfielder we should get Hamsik, first of all he is a lot bigger than Modric, he scores more, and gets more assists, and HE IS A LOT CHEAPER..

    My Chelsea Lineup:

    Cech
    Luiz Terry Ivanovich Cole

    Turan Hamisk Lampard Hazard

    Sturridge Lukaku

Subs: Hilario, Alex, Raikovik, Ramires, Oriol, Benayoun, Malouda, Torres, Drogba,
