Chelsea Still Targeting Midfielders Despite Missing Out On Modric
Luka Modric looks highly unlikely to sign for Chelsea now after impressing since his return to the Spurs side, but the search goes on for creative midfielders/wingers. One name that keeps cropping up is that of Stefan Jovetic of Italian Serie A side Fiorentina.
Jovetic, 21, is currently discussing a new contract at Fiorentina, but as yet nothing has been signed and Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas continues to monitor the situation.
The Montenegro International is mulling offer the offer of a five year contract, which is believed to be worth around £1.8million a year. His agent Fali Ramadani is aware of Chelsea’s interest and said yesterday, “These are just rumours that do not need a comment. They are always a concern, but our priority is to meet with the directors of Fiorentina.”
Jovetic missed the whole of last season through injury, but he has already scored twice this season and his side are just one point of the top of the table. Even if Jovetic does sign the offer that is on the table website Metro report that Chelsea and Villas-Boas will still try to land him once the transfer window reopens as there will be a £21million buy out clause in his new contract.

I will fucking hate AVB if he buys another midfielder when we have the best youngster in the PL. On to of that we have Piazon waiting in the wings come January. PFF he claims he’ll use youth, if he aint using the best one we’ve got what is he going to use? fucking asshole!
Chelseaphan, we still need a attacking mid. Piazon is only 18 in Jan, so he is a couple of seasons off being a first team regular and let’s be honest, it looks like Lamps will only be a bit part ( if any ), from next season on. So we only have mata as attacking mid/winger, for next year, would defo to like to see a bit more of Josh but am sure they know what to do with him, will prob go on loan in Jan for experience. This Jovetic looks good on paper but not seen much of him.
Jovetic is a good choice considering Lamps is wearing off. We cant rely on Mata only…we need more Wingers. Malouda too will be out soon and we dont have much control in the midfield. Like Mike said, Piazon is still a minor, might take a while before he can be a first team regular. Ive been watching Jovetic for a while now…he’s good i must admit. And im sure he’s going to be a good signing if we eventually invest in him.

Mcechran is a long way off being a 1st team regular starter, he is good and has talent but needs to go on loan somewhere to get a real experience of playing 90 mins 2,3 times a week.
To be honest I don’t think we need jovetic we have Mata, Malouda, Kalou and Sturridge who can all play on the wings so is there much point in spending that much on a player we don’t really need, I think if we’re gunna loose Alex we need to buy a solid PL proven CB like Gary Cahill.
