The same day as getting the good news about spearheading Team GB’s football team at the Olympics, Daniel Sturridge has been rushed into hospital with a suspected case of Meningitis.
22-year old Sturridge got in touch with the medical staff at Chelsea after suffering prolonged and severe pains and vomiting. The symptoms could indicate Meningitis and so Sturridge was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington as soon as possible.
He will undergo tests to determine what he is suffering from, and if it does turn out to be Meningitis then he will definitely miss the Olympics. Often the recovery period can be very long and so he may not be ready to start the season at Stamford Bridge.
There is no serious danger to Sturridge now, as the response was very quick and the striker is already feeling better, according to The Sun.
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is expected to give a statement to the press tomorrow, so we should know the results of his medical tests then.
All Blues fans will wish him a speedy recovery, and hopefully he does not have Meningitis and will be well enough to feature at London 2012 and help Chelsea to more silverware this season.
