Reported Chelsea target Anwar El Ghazi has revealed his “dream club” to be Spanish giants Real Madrid. Chelsea are one of a number of clubs showing serious interest in 20-year-old Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi.
The 20-year-old joined Ajax from Sparta Rotterdam in 2013, and he has been very impressive since breaking into Frank de Boer’s first-team this season.
El Ghazi has only missed three league games this term, in a season where he’s scored nine goals and registered eight assists. He’s also completed 59 take-ons, and was recently named Ajax’s Young Player of the Year.
El Ghazi has just finished his first full season in the senior Ajax side and clocked up 42 appearances with ten goals thrown in for good measure, further boosting his stock.
The player in all has now given Real Madrid the “go-ahead” to make a swoop for him when the transfer window opens.
He said: “My dream is of course to succeed with Ajax as a major player,” he told Ajax TV. “From there I want to make a big next step.
“Real Madrid are of course my dream club.
” I am trying to improve myself every day and then naturally we’ll see if that happens”
However, the Special One has suffered a blow in his pursuit of the youngster as he has revealed that he dreams of playing for Los Blancos. What does this mean? It simply implies that the youngster wont be interested in any approach from any club apart from Madrid and this will come as a big blow for the Chelsea club as a whole.
El Ghazi is a tall and strong wide forward, whose pace and power in possession make him a potent threat in the final third. Just as comfortable going down the line to provide a cross into the area as he is cutting infield and unleashing a shot on goal, he always makes life difficult for his markers. It can sometimes take him a little time to work his way into a match, but once he does there are few defenders capable of keeping him completely under wraps.
There are still some raw elements to his game, but his current level represents a very strong starting point from both a physical and technical standpoint in which Chelsea wont be able to utilize because of the players “dream move to the Madrid capital”
Chelsea would have definitely relished having such a player in their ranks, bolstering the squad with his talent and abilities but sadly enough a move to Stamford Bridge isn’t looking likely with the players preference for Real Madrid a step back.
