Chelsea target Falcao hints at PSG move

Athletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao has hinted at a possible move to France, leaving Chelsea in fear of missing out on their long-term target.

The Blues are widely believed to be at the end of their tether with Fernando Torres. The striker has been on-and-off this season, mostly off!

Chelsea’s hiring of Rafa Benitez until the end of the season has been deemed as further indication that Torres would be leaving this summer, should he fail to start repaying the faith paid in him at Stamford Bridge.

Demba Ba has arrived arrived in West London this month, and is widely expected to dominate the lone-striker role at Chelsea FC. Ba arrived with an incredible Premier League record, currently sitting joint-third top goalscorer this term.

It is almost common knowledge that Roman Abramovich is a huge admirer of Falcao, with the Chelsea oligarch said to be readying a £200k a week deal for the Colombian.

Falcao, who has a £48million release clause in his contract, has suggested his future may lie in France, with Paris Saint-Germain the only French team that could afford him.

Falcao said: ‘France is a marvellous country.

‘I’ve been there before, and I love it. PSG have a very ambitious sporting project and they’ve invested a huge amount of money to construct a competitive team. That will need time, but that could come very quickly.

‘It’s not impossible that I could be meeting you [the French media] very soon.’

Falcao went on to praise current PSG front-man Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has nine goals in his 20 Ligue 1 matches.

He added: ‘I’ve followed Zlatan’s path. He’s had an incredible career and he has succeeded in every league in which he has played. He is fantastic. He has scored a lot of goals.

‘I like being able to compete with this kind of player. But my main objective is to excel and be even better every day.’

This is not good news, Fernando Torres has to go, but this is not the end of the story. Roman Abramovich rarely fails to land his top targets, and I expect to see the Colombian having dinner on his yacht in the near future.

Falcao is looking for further challenges all the time, and I do not believe the French League has enough to offer him. Even with Champions League football, I doubt he would just move for the money. At least I hope…
