Premier League champions Chelsea are targeting world class Colombian and Real Madrid ace James Rodriguez as a replacement for the out-of-form Cesc Fabregas according to Spanish media outlet Fichajes.
The former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder has struggled to make a mark this season with just two assists to his name and could soon be ditched in favour of 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez(6 goals), increasingly frustrated at his lack of starting berth at Real Madrid.
James Rodriguez, who has started only four league games under new manager Rafael Benitez, could be tempted by Chelsea’s overtures if his situation does not change according to the Express.
24-year old former FC Porto, Banfield and AS Monaco attacking midfielder cum winger joined Real Madrid in the summer of last year for a mammoth fee of £60m (€82.8m) from French side AS Monaco and would definitely want to recoup their money back if Chelsea intensify their interest with a bid.
