Chelsea to do swap deal for top German midfielder?

In the last couple of years Chelsea have raided the world for three of the best young midfielders available, as in Mata, Hazard and Oscar, and now it seems they are now chasing yet another star of the future in Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle.

The 22 year-old Germany international was approached last summer but his club wouldn’t allow him to move, but this summer it looks like the 22million bid has persuaded them to let him move on. In fact the General manager Rudi Voller, ssaid: “That we should consider the offer is all part of business. It is all in our hands.”

It certainly seems to be pretty much a done deal, with the Belgian youngster Kevin De Bruyne going the other way as part of the transaction. De Bruyne has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season while on loan at Werder Bremen, and he is really keen to remain in Germany next season. “Bayer Leverkusen is a very good option,” De Bruyne’s agent, Patrick de Koster, said. “They will play in the Champions League next season, and Kevin could take Andre Schurrle’s role.

“Kevin wants to further his career, and Leverkusen could be the right destination.”

Chelsea have high hopes of De Bruyne in the future though and may only let him go on loan, but it seems that whatever happens Schurrle will be playing in Blue next season.
