It is being reported today that the new Chelsea chief exec Ron Gourlay is preparing to offer Nicolas Anelka a £40,000 a week pay rise and a new contract which means he will finish his career at Stamford Bridge. This is equal to a 50% raise and will make him one of the top earners on £120,000 a week.
Anelka still has 18 months left on his conract, but has made no secret of the fact he wants to stay. He said yesterday: “I hope to sign a new contract soon. I am very happy at Chelsea. I have found a home.
“Ever since I left Real Madrid, I wanted to find a big club again and I have with Chelsea.
“It is a big club with big players.
“I feel I am playing the best football of my career and want to carry on playing my best days with Chelsea.”
It seems that he is going to get his wish.

If we buy Aguero or any other expensive striker I’m afraid Nicolas will fall out of favor going into his mid 30s.
i do not agree with you.. if we want to win champions league and also premier league, we are going to need 3 extra forwards, and my opinion is that kalou doesn’t have the quality for chelsea.. Anelka and Drogba can’t play the whole season on the highest level, and that’s why we need another striker..
