The Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been rumoured to be on his way out of Chelsea ever since Fernando Torres arrived in January, but it seems that Roman Abramovich has no intention of letting the 33 year-old leave Stamford Bridge at the moment.
But he DOES want to offload Nicolas Anelka this summer and bring in a much younger replacement, or even promote Daniel Sturridge to the Chelsea first team and keep Drogba in reserve.
The Independent, which doesn’t waste a lot of time on boring rumours, reported: Didier Drogba is not one of the players that Chelsea are looking to move on, despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray. In fact, Chelsea are considering offering the 33-year-old an extension to his current contract, which has one year left to run. Instead, Chelsea are open to offers for Nicolas Anelka, who also has one year to run on his current deal.
Drogba may be old in footballing terms, but now he is over his bout of Malaria and approaching full fitness for next season, I am sure we will see the best of him yet again.
