The fact that Chelsea needs another striker next season to partner or replace Diego Costa when his injury problems come up is an open secret. With Didier Drogba likely to leave in the summer, Chelsea is even further depleted in attack. It is expected that Jose Mourinho will try to sign a striker once the summer transfer window opens and many strikers have been linked to the club.
Cavani, Higuain, Griezmann and many other strikers have been rumoured to be on the way to Chelsea in the summer, and for big money transfers for that matter. However, one name that has not been mentioned is Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon. The French striker has been linked to Arsenal and Manchester City lately but no one seems to be thinking Chelsea could be in for him. Could Jose Mourinho and his management team be secretly tracking the Frenchman?
Lacazette is currently France’s best player. He has as of the time of writing this article scored a total of 29 goals and assists 6 goals for Lyon in all competitions so far this season. Reportedly available for £25 to £35 million, Lacazette is a complete striker, one that would be of great help to Chelsea on the field of play and commercially – his signing of will lead to lots of souvenir sales.
Lacazette is not only able to cover for Diego Costa when his normal hamstring problem strikes, but also able to play upfront on himself like he has done so many times this season fro Lyon. Although the French league is not the best league in the world, but you got to give serious consideration to a striker who scored 29 goals in 33 games.
I sincerely hope Mourinho is keeping an eye on the player’s situation.
