After a disappointing debut season in the Premier League, Brazilian left-back, Filipe Luis is rumored to be keen on a move back to his former club, Atletico Madrid. Luis made his 14th Premier League appearance this weekend against Liverpool, where he had a decent performance. Luis has fallen behind Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanović on the left and right flanks, and has reportedly grown unsettled due to his lack of matches. But Mourinho may be reluctant to sell him, after just owning him for just one season. He would have to be replaced, but it could be done cheaply.

José Mourinho has a strong relationship with Diego Simeone, and that has been seen in recent transfer windows. Last summer, Chelsea purchased Luis, Costa, and Thibaut Courtois returned from his 3 year loan spell from Atletico. This summer, Chelsea has been seriously linked to Koke, an attacking midfielder with an extremely bright future. Koke has a £44million release clause imbedded into his contract, but it is unlikely that Mourinho will want to pay that fully. Instead he could opt to send Luis back, with £30million in return for Koke. It would be surprising to see Atletico Madrid value Luis at £14million, but if they need the money it would be a good move for both sides.

Chelsea has also been linked to attacking player Antoine Griezmann, who is currently playing for Atletico. It is doubtful Mourinho will purchase both Koke and Griezmann, but he will probably have to choose between the two. Griezmann would be relatively cheaper than Koke, with a transfer value around £26million, which Mourinho might be willing to pay, without parting ways with Luis. If he was to send Luis, the price would only drop to around £15million. But £15million for one of the best strikers in the world, that is only 24 years of age.

Chelsea is in for an interesting summer, and Filipe Luis could play a large role in who they purchase. Griezmann, Godin, and Koke are all players that Luis could be swapped for. Mauro Icardi could even be part of a deal with a swap consisting of Luis heading to the San Siro.
