Chelsea to pay Sturridge £1.5M to make sure he leaves the club

Chelsea are surprisingly willing to pay Daniel Sturridge £1.5Million to make sure the unwanted striker leaves the club.

Chelsea are rumoured to have agreed a £12M+ deal with Liverpool, and the England international underwent a medical yesterday.

Liverpool are expected to confirm his capture in the next 24 hours, with the striker joining Liverpool on January 1.

Liverpool are firmly expected to follow up their interest in Ex-Liverpool winger Tom Ince next, in a deal thought to cost Liverpool around £6million.

Chelsea felt they needed to pay the Liverpool-bound forward the fee, after the Ex-Man City player indicated he would be willing to stay at Chelsea to fight his way into the team. The fee will also act as a sweetener to the deal, after the deal hit a hiccup last week over agent fees.

Daniel Sturridge has failed to make a impact at Chelsea this season, making only 1 Premier League start, and has suffered with various injuries over the past 6 months.

Chelsea will look to invest the money into buying a striker or two in January, with Radamel Falcao top of Roman Abramovich’s wish-list.

I don’t think Sturridge was given a fair chance this season, but if the player is injury-prone then it is definitely good business. When Torres was really struggling for form, Sturridge was unavailable, and Chelsea will need to bolster their attack in January.

I hope we land Falcao, as I think he will improve our options in attack immensely. He is the best no.9 in the world and could propel Chelsea to the top of English football again.

I don’t think that sturridge has really been given a good chance but I do think that if we could off load him and get a suitable back up to torres than we could be in good shape. I would love to get falcao but for the48 mil we could get a striker and defensive mid
