Chelsea are pushing hard to complete the signing of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid according to reports from Spain. Griezmann has in the last one month been linked with a move to Chelsea with reports claiming Chelsea’s director of football Michael Enemalo had flown to Spain to have a discussion with Atletico Madrid about Griezmann and Koke.

According to Fichajes.net, Chelsea are now desperate to get the deal done and dusted after reports emerged that Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the player. Chelsea are reportedly ready to activate the player’s release clause which is said to be put at £46.3million

Should Griezmann join Chelsea, it will remain to be seen if Jose Mourinho will use him as striker next season or if another striker will be brought in. Either way, the Frenchman has proven himself to be capable of playing both roles.

When he was at Real Sociedad, he played in the 10 role ( and sometimes in the 8 role ) for the club and he did so effectively. After moving to Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone was forced to deploy him as a striker, and he has done well so far scoring 22 goals in 37 La Liga games. Should Chelsea sign him, he will offer us more directness than Oscar and co are currently offering and he will be a worthy replacement/backup/partner for Diego Costa when necessary.
