Chelsea To Sign 22 Goals In 32 Games Attacker For Cheap

Chelsea Bound?

Following an amazing season displays from French forward Antoine Griezmann in the Spanish La Liga, the 24 years old is set to be bought by Chelsea for just £22 million. The La Liga Player for the Month of January has totalled a whopping 22 goals in 32 league appearances. A feat that has made him set a record as the current French player with the highest goals in a single La liga season, breaking records set by compatriots Karim Benzema, Thierry Henry and Zinedine Zidane.

The forward is tenth on the club’s list of most goals scored in a season. If he scores five more goals before the season is wrapped up, he will equal the record set by Diego Costa last season. It is with all these records and exploits, that his buyout clause of £22 million ( just around the same price he was brought in from Real Sociedad a season ago) becomes laughable. And trust Chelsea F.C to table an offer for the forward once the transfer window opens. But it has been said that Coach Diego Simeone is in talks with the club to look into a possible contracts renegotiation with the striker.

The Argentine is reported to have formed a bond with the striker, and won’t be willing to let him go easily. He hopes his buyout clause is increased before summer, in order to keep the on-form striker in the club till 2020 when his contract is due to expire. If that is done, then it might become impossible for Chelsea to sign him, as the financial fair play clause might not allow them to. But Atletico has been fond of selling their star players in order to pay off debt, and Antoine Griezmann’s sale won’t be what the fans want. Besides, being the current 3rd leading goals scorer in the ongoing campaign, his selling fees is likely to increase as a result.
