Chelsea to test Napoli resolve to keep dynamic midfield star

Chelsea are ready to try and prise Marek Hamsik from Napoli in the January transfer window.

The Blues have been linked with Hamsik before, but failed to land their man as the Slovakian playmaker ended up committing his future to Napoli.

Along with Hamsik, Chelsea have been trying to nab Napoli’s hot shot striker Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea are actively seeking a striker to replace the misfiring Fernando Torres and Cavani’s name has batted about constantly.

Chelsea are also seeking a permanent replacement for the experienced Frank Lampard, who is now 34 and looks to be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

Frank Lampard has been a key member of the Chelsea first-team through-out the Roman Abramovich era and his influence will be tough to replace.

Marek Hamsik has played as captain for his country, and is thought to be a big character in the dressing room. He could possibly go some way to filling the void left by our loss of Franky.

I’ve been an admirer of Hamsik since his Champions League debut for Napoli, where he ran riot over Villareal, scoring the winner in the process. The Slovakian could be a big player for us should we sign him, with the 25 year-old’s best years still ahead of him. Who do you see as the ideal Lampard replacement?

Do not know. have a look at widely promoted Pastore how is he playing now he doesnt seem a leader in PSG. I am not against Cavani or Gomez as central forward or even Demba Ba, in midfield we need more power like Felainee from Everton.

I agree on the brits not being to bright part, but if you seriously believe remarks made by italian sports directors represent truth, rather than just bombastic rethorics, im not sure where you stand vis-a-vis the brits.
Personally i think Hamsik looks a good choice, but with Joses return of almost biblical proportions pending, lets let him do the buying.
