Chelsea Transfer Latest – Sturridge, Benayoun & Bertrand

We have been keeping you up to date with the news on who could be arriving at Stamford Bridge today, but now it is time for the news on those who could be leaving.

Daniel Sturridge is a player that Chelsea supporters have high hopes for. He has been suspended for the first three Premier League games of the season, but that does not stop him from being amongst the rumours.

Yesterday Chelsea made a move for Raul Meireles in part exchange with Yossi Benayoun, but that was quickly turned down by Liverpool. If Daniel Sturridge was part of the deal then Liverpool would do business, but Chelsea would want a considerable sum of money as well for their young starlet. I don’t care what the papers say that is never going to happen despite the rumours on the internet today.

Yossi Benayoun is definitely on his way out of Chelsea, but as yet there is no new news to report on where he is likely to end up. Lille can now be ruled out as they have signed Joe Cole from Liverpool, so it looks as though Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool are now the main contenders to sign the 31 year-old.

Ronen Katzav is Benayoun’s agent and he said, “It will be Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool. We don’t know yet.”

There was a report published this morning saying that Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand was going on loan to Championship side Bristol City, but that was a case of mistaken identity and it was actually Ryan McGivern from Manchester City.

Bertrand signed a new four year contract in the summer and is highly rated by Andre Villas-Boas, but his chances appear limited at the moment. He spent a period on loan last season at Nottingham Forest and he could well be loaned out again to get some much needed experience.

No further news to report, but we will get it to you as soon as it becomes available.
