As the summer transfer window nears closer and closer every day, rumors start to heat up. Today, we will take you through the latest rumors surrounding any possible arrivals and departures at Chelsea.
Mario Pasalic has confirmed that he will be in London this summer, to sign a new contract with Chelsea. Pasalic signed for the Blues this summer, and was loaned out to Elche, where he had an impressive campaign. He made 30 first team appearances, and as a result was called up to make his first international cap with Croatia. Hopefully, the “next Luka Modrić” is ready to play in Chelsea’s first team soon.
It is now almost certain that Petr Čech will not be playing at Chelsea next season, but he could still be in London. Arsenal has expressed their interest for the 33 year old goalkeeper, and they could be tempted into including Theo Walcott as part of the deal. Theo Walcott’s pace would be put to good use at Chelsea, and would play a key part in Chelsea’s counterattack. His arrival would also take loads of pressure off of the backs of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas, who orchestrate almost every attacking possession.
Another swap deal could take part this summer, this one with Atletico Madrid. It would send Filipe Luis (Plus some cash) back to his former club after a disappointing debut season, in return for Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann would take this Chelsea team to the next level, and could possibly elevate them to Champions League glory. His release clause sits at £43.5million, but Luis could lower that to only £30million.
Chelsea has plunged into the long list of Premier League clubs after the signature of Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke. Benteke is one of the most physical strikers in the world, just like Diego Costa. He would flourish under José Mourinho, just like we saw with Diego Costa. Roman Abramovich could be one of the only few managers willing to part ways with £30million+, which will most likely be required to sign the prolific striker.
Chelsea is in for a very active summer, and knowing Mourinho, our squad will be even stronger next season.
